Thinking of getting LEDs.
Tank is 48" x 24" x 30" 566 litres.
Tropical with neon tetras.
Some basic plants but might expand plants as experience grows.

What sort of spec LEDs should I get in terms of watts and colour temperature?

I've just found Arcadia Eco which will fit my existing T8 fitting. The 42" one is equivalent to 38W. I believe I need 250W for my size tank. Is this true? Will I therefore need 6 of these LED tubes?!!

You'll need like 200W max with LED lighting.

That's a cheap shoddy unit mate, gives out the same amount of light as about 10 of my LED's, the power that gives off you'd need 3 of them.

If you want more powerful, longer lasting, cheaper system let me know. ;)

Hi Ps3Steveo! Is there any section of this forum that showcases your work? Do you have any information, photos, or specs regarding what you build? If custom, what are the costs per feature?

For an example, what is your total charge for building a 24" LED plant lamp with the same features as the Marineland plant/moonlight LED with dual timer (i.e. http://www.amazon.com/Marineland-24-Inch-36-Inch-Aquatic-Plant/dp/B0085TVE76/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1358277694&sr=8-3&keywords=marineland+led+plant+light)? This will greatly help myself and others who are unfamiliar with your work.

TIA Ps3Steveo!
