Right so I have a 150L tank.

2 Pearl Gouramis (24cm)
18 Threadfin Rainbowfish (72cm)
3 Cockatoo Cichlid (17.5cm)

Total = 113.5cm

Which essentialy means I have another 35cm of fish I could stock. The thing is I am really running out of ideas as to what I could put in there. It can't be something too vigorous and out going as the Rainbows and Pearls are shy. And it can't be something that will interfere  with the Cichlids. I am really baffled what can I stock?

The inch per gallon is not equivalent to cm per liter rule. You're tank is already fully ,if a little bit not over, stocked.

If you're using the gallons rule, you have a 33 gallon tank which means you can have 33 inches of fish, which is 82.5cm.

Both rules are just guides, not hard and fast YOU MUST NEVER BREAK THIS laws. The first book on fishkeeping I read gave the 1cm per litre rule, which is about twice as much as the inch per gallon rule, which just goes to show that it's all subjective.

IMHO, I think you don't have a huge amount of space, but you could probably go with a small shoal of Celestial Pearl Danios or possibly Neon Tetra. Nothing significantly bigger than that, and when I say a small shoal, I mean 6.

I think as lock man's post infers, this is subjective and not a hard and fast rule. There have been times when I have had more than the supposed "rule" but have been comfortable that I know what I am doing and am keeping on top of general maintenance so the fish are still healthy.

However whilst I think that the more experienced fish keeper can make their own mind up about this, I would always recommend the novice to stick to it until they are more comfortable in their understanding of their hobby.

well I am happy with my stock as it is, but i was thinking maybe i could get a school of something small, i was thinking 6 of something.

I would agree, but as I said, nothing too big.
