currently living with the other girls with no aggression, fins are alot better (brought like that) no reaction to a mirror

will try get some resent pics later on

mrs biffster says it looks
like a female

Would be interested in hearing the mrs. biffsters reasonings. As i'm sure she's far more knowledgable in this area than I.

I just looked at it, saw the strong muscular broad body, large fins, and very deep colouration, it says male to me, but i'm new to Betta's.

i'll tell her she will be on tonight
after the whizz bangs

Soddit.. forgot about the whizzbangs. Will be me keeping my fish and cats company tonight then, making sure noone freaks out. :S joyful.

I'd have guessed male due to the body shape (but I have a girl that same shape), and the fact I can't see an egg spot....HOWEVER...it looks to only have a small beard like a female.

Looks like a nice halfmoon (or maybe even halfmoon double tail) female to me...could even be a plakat, but it's hard to say with females. Her ventrals are too short to be a male. She looks stouter in the body because 1-she's a halfmoon, or plakat (they tend to have more compact bodies than your VTs and CTs) and 2-she's got that nice massive dorsal that you don't see on VTs or CTs. No visible egg spot, true, but her ventrals could be hiding it.

now you know why i am so confused with this one  tail type wise we are thinking DTHMPK on the betta forum, no egg stop as has been said but none of my girls have one

am starting to wonder about this one too now, she seems to like flaring alot for my liking

The beard looks more female, especially for a betta of that size, but then again, it could be a very large Young male who hasnt fully grown all of his beard. The only thing to do is wait and see if he/she grows larger.

thats what i am doing, i can't get any of them to respond to a mirror so hoping they are girlies, if not no big deal just an excuse for another tank or two :good:

i don't think it is that one, but none of them seem to be showing any interest in maintaining it, guess i will just have to seperate them all until i find the culprit

I read somewhere that females will occiasionally build bubblenests.... As if telling male from female wasn't difficult enough!

I've seen Sasha blow bubbles on occasion.
