I was just replying to "And would you like to tell us what happened to you", but you;ve edited the post.

Ive not had a problem with snails, not an issue for me, but i am very much of the ethos "Its the keepers job to erradicate things from the tank, not to buy a species to control another."

Either get in there and get them out by hand, or put some lettuce in, leave all the lights out overnight, and lift out the lettuce leaf with snails attached in the morning. (You might have to do this a few times)

Look at it like this - What happens if you end up with a male and a female assassin, and they breed? Are you going to get something else to control them? This is why i think we need a sticky thread.

It doesnt have to be completely "anti" your arguement (using one snail to control another, or the same with fish) but should at least include all the pros and cons.

And as for Argos sand - Nothing wrong with it. At all. I have about 18-20KG of it in my tank, and many others have been using it for years without a problem.....

I did mention about not getting to many to start with unless it's necessary. Yes, they will breed, but not as quickly as pest snails, and assassin snails have some resale value.

i got 10 for my 2 ft tank, so far as far as i know theres still 10, i have seen eggs but with cories and a pleco in there they don't last long

I'm not saying your wrong buddy, most of what happens in the wild can be forced to happen in a tank, and your method is just as effective and give yous something else to look at, and sell if not wanted when they're done, but a sticky would help educate people on the pros and cons, instead of a new weekly thread.

Just a thought.
Do you ever deworm your Discus with Kusuri? If you did, that would kill the snails. But then you would have to take the dead ones out to prevent them from rotting and causing water quality issues
