Hi all as the title says im interested in what i can feed my fish a little about them first i have a comunity tank which has platys ,neon ,guppies, red tail black shark and a cory. Then i have my breeding tank (my fav fish) 2 big angelfish and then i have my baby tank with my angelfish fry.

I feed them so far on flake, brine shrimp and blood worm pellets (babies have brine shrimp, fine flake food and fine blood worm pellets) all the rest just have flake and blood worms the cory does get some pellets. I've just bought some mircro-worms to start a culture but i want some more culture types i did use last summer mosquito lava that they went mad for.

Thanks for any replys.

daphina, banana worm, micro worms, theres tons of food out there you can culture ( im going to be starting some up soon)

My profile lists a lot of the different foods I feed my fish, but at present I do not have any cultures if that is your main aim.

Can you tell me how you cultured your Mosquito Larvae?  My Bettas love this as their favourite food, White Mosquito Larvae that is ;)

Where are you located?  Can you add it to your profile ...

Anything like daphina size its more for my angelfish want to give them more variety and then hopefully have plenty to go around to treat
The community tank

You can buy bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia and all that sort of thing frozen in cubes, to keep you going until you're able to culure them yourself.

Hi rca,

I just got them last summer out of water butts in my grandads allotment I use to catch them with a net put them into old tank water. Then I would catch them again just witn a container trying to get as little water as possible. Not a proper culture though I would love a decent culture if anyone knows how id like to see complete section on fish food/ diy culture's ect

Hi cezza

Im not really in a rush as the food they get should/has been ok for several years. I'm just after things I can culture that is cheap and good for my fish for example brine shrimp are perfect for my baby angels and they go mad for them but they seem far to small for my adult angels im looking for something like mosquito larvae for them.

Daphnia can be cultured in a greenwater environment. They grow away happily if you leave a container on a windowsill and get green water forming. Ideally you want large containers to keep cultures going for any length of time, but they are growable at home if you don't harvest too heavily.

There are many, many things that you can feed them aswell, from spirulina, to soy flour, to finely powdered flake or raw meat juices.

I feed my Angels, along with Bloodworm, Tetra Pro Energy flake and KB treats, a frozen Discus mix which has Spinach and Mussels with a variety of other bits of greenery in. They also eat the cucumber and courgette which I put in mostly for Pleco's and Ruby Shark.
