What Other Fish Can I Have With A Betta

In a 6 gal you could have 5 pygmy cories and The betta, but put the cories in FIRST. Betta AFTER. That way, they were there before him and nothing new is coming in to invade *his* territory.

What do you mean by " air pump" ? If you mean a filter, then you can certainly put one on a 6 gallon with no problem at all. You have absolutely no reason whatsoever not to have one. It's better to have a gentle filter than none at all. The filter will provide a home for the bacteria that consume fish waste, and will help to keep your ammonia levels down ( there should be no readings for ammonia at all in a healthy tank, and a filter will certainly help this ) along with weekly 25-50% water changes.

The best sort of gentle "betta friendly" filter is a sponge filter. They are driven by an air pump with an airline, but that's it. People use them in fry tanks as they are very gentle and don't have any sort of casing for the baby fish to get sucked into, if they are gentle enough for tiny baby fish then they are perfectly safe for a weak swimmer like a betta .

You can also get small "Hang on the back" filters which provide a gentle flow that shouldn't disturb or upset the fish.

There really is no excuse not to provide decent filtration when suitable filters are readily available.

My Beta is in with a bunch of differnt fish and doesnt seem botherd, keeps himself to himself generally but isnt scared of pushing other fish out of his way... attitude...

smeg, I could possibly be wrong, but both your tanks sound a wee bit over stocked?

As for the 6gallon tank, it would probably be best to have some otto's or pygmy cories as tank mates :)

But each betta is diff and may not want the company
