So with the heatwave this week and my room being hot in general my tanks are in trouble. While my community 30 gallon is fine even with the temp at 85-95 I tried to add ice to the tank with no effect. My worries are 1: The bacteria may die? 2: Fish wont last in the heat which will last rest of week 3:DP has vanished with no traces at all (And I check every part of the tank including filters).

So I assume the DP couldent take the heat (I havent seen him in 1-2 days...) and has decomposed. The tank itself seems fine for now but I plan to do big water changes in both tanks today. Also with the DP missing I moved my 1 Adult Female Molly into my 10 gallon with the 5 oto in it. If the DP is indeed gone I plan re stock my tanks once the heat has died down. Mt Stocking as of right now is:

10 Gallon:
1 Adult Female Molly
5 Oto

30 Gallon
3 Molly (all under 2in and 2 male 1 female, may move female into 10 too)
6 Bloodfin tetra
6 Peppered Cory
7 Oto
1 BN Pleco

Assuming I move the Molly into the 10 I should still have room left in both tanks for something else. I am thinking a differnt Cory type in the 10 gallon and 6 Rio Flame Tetras into the 30. Any other suggestions? Also I plan to freeze some bottle waters and change them out every few hours to cool them down.

you can do a few things, inc the iced bottles of water

you can point a fan at the surface water and this will also help cool it.

You can also do a double layer of cloth around the tank- one black and one white. Put the black on around the tank, and the white one on top of that (so it goes White Cloth, Black Cloth, Tank) this will deflect heat.

Also, if you have curtains, keep them closed.
