would be suitable for a freshwater 55 gallon tank???

Will you be stocking from scratch or are there already fish in the tank and if so what are they.

a few black skirt tetras...
golden barb
one zebra danio
a few yo yo loaches

There are various directions you can go with this ie. species tank, show tank, pet fish tank etc. etc but
I'm a great lover of planted tanks. Below are a few pics. and a stocking list.
Which ever route you ,try to keep it simple, peaceful with minimal intervention.

In that tank I have
6 marble hatchets
20 cardinal tetra
4 black skirts
4 corydoras
4 amano shrimp and
2 ottocinclus.

It is a peaceful aquarium all water levels are catered for, minimal squabbleing amongst fish and totally relaxing to watch. Try to keep your tank as peaceful as possible with as little intervention form yourself as possible. Keep your setup simple and as stress free as you can make it. Fishtanks are supposed to be theraputic whereby you can sit down, unwind and wile away a couple of minutes/hours watching a tranquil piece of nature in your own home.
