Do you look over at your tank and think "wow! who would have thought that stock would work out so well?!"
I want to know about weird combinations people have successfully kept in their tanks....

Right now a combo I am experimenting with - which has gone quite successfully with NO hints of mishaps thus far are - one 4" blood parrot cichlid (already proven docile by being housed with cories, rosy red minnows, pearl gouramis, and guppies with no aggression) and three male african clawed frogs.

why I thought about trying it? the blood parrot had already proven docile - and with it's mouth shaped it is unable to do harm to the frogs....and the blood parrot has no worries about being eaten by the frogs because of its size...

so what have you tried???

I tried silver dollars with a tiny blue clawed crayfish. Figured the cray was too small to bother them.

Came back home to a very fat crayfish, and no silver dollars.

must have been pretty for a little while tho - the silver and blue combo -

I am suprised there are not more responses - come on! aren't there some original people out there? surely everyone can't be sticking to just schooling fish

300l 4ft tank
Marble Crayfish x 6 + many babies
Dwarf gourami
3 plattys
Angel Fish
2 Plecos
2 Albino sharks + 2 bala sharks (soon to be removed)
8 Neon tetras
3 lemon tetras
3 Guppys (1f 2m)

All living very happily :) Marble crayfish do not eat other fish unless they are dead.

wow - that combo sounds gorgeous - any way for a picture?

My tank is way overcrowded, but I am somehow managing to hold 3 tiger barbs with fish who have long fins. They at first wanted to eat my long-finned danios, but they gave it up and only chase on the occasion. And they leave my male guppy alone. I wasn't sure what the barbs would do considering they like to fin nip.

My little brother has a 2.5 gallon tank (he's like 10 years old) and he has a black skirt tetra and female molly.

Nothing too exotic in this household.

I had for a short time a serverum with a missippi map turtle, red tailed shark, pink kissing gourami and a firemouth untill the serv got so possessive over the turtle and kept chasing all the other fish away from it so I moved all the fish to a bigger tank. Turtle now lives with 2 jewel cichlids.

iv got guppies and would like sum baby angel fish to start off with in there but to chicken to do it because my lfs told me they will nip the long tails of the guppies lol im not that brave

My two foot caecilians share home with 1-3" fish and cherry shrimp. I'm not sure thats anything amazing since the eels are blind and lazy, unless you are a worm or a crayfish chunk.
