This came as a free plant with my crypts. Is it hairgrass or what?

looks like hair grass, stick it in a pot and put the pot in a tray of water, see if it grows.

Hair grass is a garden/ marsh plant that usually rots when underwater. If it has really bright light and heaps of fertiliser it might survive but normally it just rots.

split it into 2 plants and put one in the tank and the other in a pot, see which does better.

Eleocharis? Do images match? I'm seeing it for sale more and more. Seems like a high light plant and Co2 type. A hunch.
