It's very pink in colour (almost red) and is very thread like (almost like an anemone). I've never seen something like it before. The bogwood isn't new and I boiled + scrubbed it before putting it in the tank it's in. Does anyone know what it is? Is it dangerous?

Some bogwood grow an algae I believe so maybe that's what it is...there is one called white hair algae and the name looks like your picture...as far as I am aware it's not harmfull and maybe something in your tank might like to eat it. I am sure someone more knowledgable can confirm this one way or another?

I've had this piece for quite some time and it's never grown anything before. Also, the algae is very, very pink. It doesn't show in the picture but it's definitely not white. Hmmm.

It's probably not that...I was getting mixed up sorry...I try to read up about so many things...
If it is an algae then I'm sure there's a way to get rid of it....

Don't worry, your help's appreciated. I might just have to dry out the wood. It's a shame because there's anubias on it.
