What Is This?

I look at my java fern today and saw some wierd redish-orge looking ball shapes on the plants. I have 3 white clouds and I heard they are egglayers but I don't think its them. And I have a mystery snail but they lay eggs above the water. What could this be?

The little spots on the leaves are java fern seeds, they will possibly grow into little plantlets which will be released into the tank when old enough to support themselves and then attach them selves to rocks or wood Its also sometimes a sign of good conditions for the plant

Wow, I would have never thought that it was seeds lol. Who knew the seeds came from the leaves.

Well...seeds don't grow on the leaves, ferns aren't flowering plants so don't have seeds .

What they do have are sporangia, which is what these are. Sporangia are structures that contain spores, for when the plants grow emerged. Underwater they just reproduce asexually forming plantlets on the leaves..
