Crayfish ate my shrimp?

I just got 4 cherry shrimp, 2 mystery snails, and a crayfish yesterday. The crayfish attacked both my snails immediately, or at least that's what it looked like. I dropped in some snail food, which he ate. He then made a home for himself under the driftwood. This morning I can only find 3 shrimp, and I found this floating on the water. I don't have shrimp experience, but this doesn't look like a molt to me. Is it possible the crayfish ate it overnight?

were these the dwarf orange crays??? mine have always gotten along with shrimp… I’m sure my full sized crays would eat them though…

Yes, I should have mentioned it's a dwarf Mexican crayfish. I thought the shrimp would be too fast for him. I'm thinking of returning him.

Just had a quick google and below says does not always do well with neo's and some other shrimps

I kept 3 of them and they did not get along with each other.
Most of their activity is at night when most others are off guard.

I should have researched them better. Everything I read said they were "usually" peaceful. Before I went to bed last night I watched him sneaking up on a snail, just like a cat. I had a bad feeling even then.

I just returned him to the LFS and got more shrimp in its place. Wish I could've kept him in a separate tank, but I don't have one set up right now.

My research also listed them as one of the more peaceful.
Maybe if I offered a larger space it could have bought them more time?
I had them in a Fluval spec 5. Not the largest tank.

I’ve had dozens of dwarf crays, most have been in with neocardia shrimp, and as far as I know, there has never been a negative interaction between them ( these have all been larger tanks, they are more likely to bump into each other, the smaller the tank..
