?what Is This Stuff?

In the past I have had a problem with this gunk-like stuff that gets on my air hoses, heater, and even on ornaments like a rubber starfish and light up crystal.

Its like algea but white-ish clear. When I touch it feels really slimy.
What is it?
Where does it come from?
And what can you do to keep it out.

It's bio-film and it will usually go away on it's own after a few months. If it bothers you, just rub it off, It should come off pretty easy.

check out this link...is it Rhizoclonium? if that doesnt sound like it i agree its just biofilm...but biofilm isnt usually described as algae, which is why i included the link.

Just looked and its not Rhizoclonium....
I guess it would be bio-film...
