I was wondering what the most agressive type of fish is in fishkeeping these days. I'm guessing some kind of African Cichlid but what is it? -_-

My guess would goto the oto!
heheeh I'm kidding. I'm really not sure, but would like to know as well. Some species of catfish can be quite aggressive.

Cichlids for the most part are pretty aggressive fish. There are some peaceful species but there are alot more aggressive species than peaceful.

A great white kept in captivity. :good: Im not sure if its there nature to attack but if your a fish, then you better watch out for em'.

a lung fish, they are viscious wee buggers or for marine a moray eel

A Puffer?

I'm not too experienced at it as my fishkeeping experience is limited but I bet the Moray Eel is a nasty piece of work.

Fahaka puffers are described as exceptionally aggressive. Mine isn't too bad, but last night he did try and eat the back of my head during my dinner.

For me, Hemibagrus wyckii, Channa micropeltes and other snakeheads would make among the most aggressive fish available.

there's some 126$ fish that they warned me about in the LFS, kept only with exceptionally strong african ciclids.

"what's this guy?"
"hoooooo no. you dont want him."
"why not?"
"You said you liked bala sharks, right?"
"yeah...." (begining of fish career.)
"Imagine this guy in with three balas. Turn off the lights. Go to bed. wake up in the morning. you have no more bala sharks. even at full size."

What exactly were you doing to let it eat the back of your head. lol???? :p

Redline Snakehead (Channa micropeltes) is pretty much top of aggression for me.

Put one that has grown to anything near adulthood with almost any fish and you will see a bloodbath. These things are over and above anything a cichlid would offer.

There are reports of them attacking, and maybe even killing, small children that stray too close to their nests. Not bad for a fish that gets around 3 feet.

Nasty fish that has some serious dentition:

Mind you, if you go pound for pound aggression, the Pseudochromis spp of fish are known to bully fish many times larger than themselves into submission (think four or five times larger).
