Hello first of all I'm new but have been looking on the forums for a while and think the advice given is brilliant so hopefully I can to help aswell as be helped,
Firstly I have a pregnant platy and 6 days ago I noticed a white dot under her anal fin the man at the fish shop was persistent it was cotton wool but it hasn't spread at all or moved this picture was taken 6 days ago when the spot appeared

Secondly today her stomach seems to have changed shape I'm not sure if its squared off I've also noticed a black spot on her behind looks like an eye but I'm not sure sorry i can't get a better picture she moves

Thanks

Can't really tell from the photo, but squared off really means that it looks like she's swallowed a box.

It looks boxed at the front I think would it be easier it I take another picture? Btw thanks for replying

Try reading through previous threads. There are loads of pictures and advice as this is a very common question with new Live bearer owners. They are going to keep you guessing for a while, but every few weeks get ready for more babies!

Thanks I've tried my best to look but it looks bottom sqaured at not top if you get that I've added a picture and I'm really excited
Some news too ;-) I have zebra danios in my tank and saw them spawning thought nothing of it then I saw a tiny tiny danio swimming around!

is it the same tank? May be livebearer fry and not zanio. How long has your tank been set up? As far as I know danios are egg scatterers.

And judging by the pictures I'd say you have about a week before birthing. She will literally look ready to explode when she drops.

Yes it was in my main tank but the size was pathetically small like a tadpole almost and it was black, I thought my guppy was in labour but when I put her in the breeder so it wasn't her and a week? Does that mean she's not squared and what's the white dot and I've had my tank set up around 3-4 months
Amm 0
Ph 6.5
Nitite 0
Nitrate 5
And it's 90 litres both my tanks but only have tiger barbs in my second
Thanks for replying

Zebra danios are easy to spawn, Jenste is right about them being egg-scatterers, and usually something else comes along and hoovers up the eggs. If you have a gravel substrate, it is perfectly feasible that an egg dropped down amongst the gravel in a place where it was impossible for a fish to find it.

I've read that live bearer guide to dropping signs and she's showing all the symptoms apart from hiding she's still swimming as usual

since she is not hiding, you probably have a couple days left before she drops. The week estimate was going off slightly blurry pics so she may be further along then I realized.

I'm exited now I read that the top pictures were taken 6 day ago
Oh I forgot to mention
She usually swims up and down the tank all day with the male but the last too days she hasn't been doing it as much she's swimming around buy with the male following her is that a sign? I didn't think much off it because she is still been semi active but not like usual

Ah! ok I missed the "6 days ago" part....!

Fingers crossed for you and your babies. Do you have a tank set up for them? You could have quite a few...do you know what you are going to do with them?

Yes I have a 36litre nursery and then moving them into a 90 litre, then separating male and females Hopefully in next 2-3 days

Females can store sperm so they may still birth fry for a few months after being separated

Ohhh :-/ I'm counting on her having them tonight, then hopefully will note down exactly 4 weeks if that's the case :-o wow!
