OK. I just cleaned my Fluval FX4.. everything was good. Found a bunch of snails. But when I kicked it back on. It shot outback of this snowy stuff! What the heck! Can someone fill me in. I'll post pic. Honestly they look like Brine shrimp. But not.

Cleaning your filter is all well and good, but if you don't clean your return lines once in a while this is what happens. The sudden rush of water when you switch your filter back on, on occasion, can release the build up of bio film layers from within the hoses. It's like a whitish jelly.

It's harmless, some fish will even eat it, but it's extremely unsightly and a pita considering you've just cleaned everything and then this happens. It'll clear up after a while as it settles or your filter intakes will swallow it.
