His mouth was caved in and very red and sore and you can see his gills are very red and this was overnight, he was fine the day before.

its a bit late for me tonight, but im aware that there is a rare infection that causes the gills to have a red streak to them and sometimes this can also effect the mouth, i cant remember the name of it as im too tired but google sypmtoms and you may find the name of it, also i think this can also be due to resperation problems as well. good luck,

 RIP little one

I just realised too his gills looked so bruised. It was more horrific in real life, never seen anything like it, he looked like his mouth had been eaten. Thankfully it's not spread to any other fish.

Poor little chap :-( :-(

Never seen anything like that before Mel!!!

Is it me, or does he have a scared look to his face?

send a pm to wilder , if its a deasise she know if it can spread to other fish, as he had no systoms and then sunddenly died so sorry, i just hope nobody else gets it.

is there a fish version of lepercy? or a possible bacterial infection was under way, got into a fight with another fish and that just super sped up the problem?

good god!

i've never come across anything like this. really sorry about ur loss.... very strange. :(

candyman candyman candyman. That fish looks like the bloke in the film. terrified. RIP

The only thing I can think is that he had a fight. But he had lived happily in that tank for MONTHS literally, they never even noticed him before. I've not put anything new in the tank for weeks either, so didn't introduce a disease. Poor little fella x

seen this only once, and it was like overnight, strangely enough it was on a male cellophane aswell.
never knew what it was, and he looked bruised like yours with inflamed gills and a destroyed mouth..
