In my second 55 gallon tank I currently have 6 bueno aires tetra and a red tailed shark. I was planning on getting tiger barbs soon, but I was also wondering what other fish would do well in this tank? I'm not really sure so any suggestions would be awesome!

Okay if I do, what fish should I add. My BA tetra just nipped at my angels constantly.

Need help please! What fish could go with my bueno aires tetra and tiger barbs?

i wouldn't return the red tailed shark just because it is known to be aggressive. the tank is large enough for one red tailed shark to be ok in it. just closely monitor it to make sure that it doesn't get too aggressive. a lot of aggressive behavior can be solved by having more places to hide and having proper numbers of fish. in my experience with tiger barbs (have never had a buenos aries tetra) i've had zebra dano, neon tetra, khuli loach, dojo loach, batik loach, bala shark, rainbow shark, and neon blue dwarf gourami housed with tiger barbs. not all at once but i haven't had any issues with with housing any of the previous fish with tiger barbs. just stay away from long finned fish and make sure your you have enough of each type of fish.

if you are going to keep the red tailed shark do not add a rainbow shark.

4+ more Buenos Aires Tetra, with 10+ Pearl Danios for the upper water? Would make a decent mix of fish that enjoy current and slightly cooler sub-tropical temps, with nothing else on the bottom your shark minnow should be fine.

You have a good sized tank and I would not return the red tailed shark either, I'd probably find a new home for the tiger barbs though. Sure wish I could have a larger tank with any shark whether its rainbow or especially bala, they're my favorite. I would research non-aggressive fish that grow to about the same size as the shark, avoid ones with long swordlike tails, hope this helped.

Why do you say find a new home for tiger barbs? They are doing great.

Would giant danios also be a good option?
