What Fish Food

ok now that im out of y fish food, i thought it would be a great idea to finally start feeding my fish the right stuff, so when i go looking for fish food 2day i need both veggies and meat,so what brands and what signs should i be looking for in a good quality fish food?

my stocking for the 55 is underneath so you know what i have to feed.

2 ballloon mollies
5 bosemani rainbows currently have 2
5 gold barbs
1 chocolate chiclids (i have one ready to order, just need a 3.5gpa and i get him!!)
5 neon dwarf rainbows
2 otos
1 stripped raphael catfish
5 sterbai corys dont have, impossible to find lol

You have plenty of dirt cheap choices right there. Its high quality stuff, I feed it to all my fish. If you want a good store brand, O.S.I. is very good.

would it be ok to get 2 seperate foods? 1 meat and one veg? and alternate each feeding or combine?

Hikari has a lot of specialized foods, for instance they have algae tabs for plecs, but also have bottom feeder tab mix for things like cories, and large carnivore pellets for catfish and the monster type fish, as well as community mixes.

I've been using Ocean Nutrition brand flake for several years with good results. I also like Hikari Sinking Wafers. Look on the side of the packages for nutrition information much like what you will find on human foods. Pick a kind that matches the needs of your specific fish.

In the US I buy fish food from Ken's and from Florida guppies plus. Both sell bulk foods similar to the ones that Kribensis12 suggested and both are easy to deal with. As Inchy said, it is best to try to choose a food that matches your particular fish's needs either when used alone or used in combination with other foods.

well, i left at 2 to watch WOLFMAN at the movies, and then went to my local chain store to get the supplies, i got nutrafin max tropical fish flakes because it contained spirunila and various "meals" plus it has 1.6% omega 3s lol, this ok? ill get the sinking wafers when i get cories.



also,before i scrammed out of there before hereing a "proper set-up" from some employees to a first time fish keeper, i also bought some root tabs and Fe+K ferts, im wondering where to put the root tabs, underneath the main plant aka root base, next to it, under the roots?

The plants roots will spread out around the plant that you see so place the toot tabs evenly out around it. In the case of a small aquarium plant, I would put them a few inches from the plant stem. If you have one of those monster plants going, back off quite a ways with the root tabs.
