I have a 3ft Kribensis tank and I'd like to know know what else I could add to it to make it more lively... I currently have 2 different species of kribensis in there, Nigerian Red's and Ocellated's.
So anything?

I was thinking a nice big shoal of Threadfin Rainbows but would they be all right if/when the kribs bred?

If not, any other suggestions?

A chunky schoal of something would work, I have tigers with my kribs, depends whether you want to risk the eggs/fry being eaten as most other fish will enjoy them.

Maybe something like penguin tetras, never see them much in tanks, i think some type of barb may work better though

I'm not too keen on barbs, I'd much prefer rainbows if possible...

I don't mind a few of the eggs/babies being eaten which is the reason I want something else in there but it has to be something that can put up with the kribs being protective parents...

I just feel that smaller fish could be killed by the kribs as its only three foot and may possibly have 2 breeding pairs in it. There would literally be a foot square in the middle of the tank where the rainbows could swim without being harrassed

Top dwelling fish are a good option but theres not much choice, and the rainbows would stay pretty high in the tank but there is no guarantees and thats the problem

Hmmm... What about a mix of chunky Leopard and Zebra danios? When I say chunky I mean I'll be buying them at a size of about 1-2" long and the females are easy to spot, pretty fat.

Fine I would say :good:

In a 3ft tank how many would you say? I know 6 is generally the minimum but I count 10 as being the minimum as the difference in behaviour between 6 and 10 is so big.

12? I also couldnt agree more with that, dont know why people always say 6, doesnt even look like a school to me

Just thinking as they are 4 for £5 near me so I can get quite a few at a time.

Thank you! Another person who agree's 10 is better than 6.

Sounds good.

Have you got any pics of your Ocellated krib? Did you get them from peter clarke or was that just the nigerians

I have pictures of both and yes I got them from Peterclarke. The ocellated haven't got their adult colouring as they are still young.

Ah ok, Make sure to get some pics up as they develop

Oh I will be, now they are in a 3ft they are blooming in colour so shouldn't be long till they are nice and colourful. The female has her pink belly already and the male is getting his blue fins.
