I feed my bettas atison's betta pro pellets twice a day. but they won't eat anything else, I have two male halfmoons and a veiltail and they all turn their noses up to blood worms and brine shrimp. Is it okay that all they get are the pellets or should i be feeding them something else?

Thanks!

I feed my betta 3 pellets in the morning and 3 at night.
2 days a week i feed 4 bloodworms.

A varied diet is best if you can get them to eat it, but some bettas really will not eat certain things. Bloodworm and shrimp are considered treats but if they wont take dont worry too much as the pellets are designed for bettas. Have you tried cooked cut up and mushed peas? It helps to clear them out and also helps vary the diet, try feeding once a week. When I first had Calcifer he only wanted bloodworm, the pellets were an odd texture to him and took me 4 days of determination to get him going, now he loves them. Peas again took couple of attempts but again he loves everything feed now. My other two boys have never been fussy, at first had to bob the food a little to grab their attention and then they were away.

I have tried peas, they won't even look at them. I feel like they should be eating a wider variety of food but...

So it won't hurt them at all just eating the betta pellets?

Well I am not a veteran betta keeper but the pellets are made for them for a wholesome diet, all you can do is to keep tempting them. When persevered with Calcifer I did not give him any other sorts of food during that time, so in the end he gave in and tried the food.

Can I ask have you tried live or frozen foods? Live may make a difference?

In the morning, 3 Hikiri Bio-Gold Betta pellets, Same at night. On sunday, after water change, i feed either freeze dried blood worms, or freeze dried baby shrimp.

I feed my betta:
-3 betta pellets in the morning and 3 at night (everyday)
-1 bloodworm on Saturday and Sunday (as a treat along with the pellets)
-One little piece of a boiled, deshelled pea. (once a week on fridays, whether he likes it or not. Just to just things running smoothly)

As a general rule, two pellets of Betta Pro morning and night with a total fast one day a week. I'll randomly replace the day's Betta Pro with four to six mosquito larvae (live) as a single meal. When conditioning, I stick to three pellets every two days for a week.

Mine get a range -

Hikari Betta Bio Gold
Tropical Fish Flakes (a few different brands/types)
Tropical Fish Pellets
Peas
Cucumber (they steal it from the others, lol)
Frozen Bloodworms/Brineshrimp/Daphnia
Live Daphnia

Oz also steals the corys' sinking pellets!

Keep the diet varied and try things a good few times before you decide the betta won't take them.

Betta fish can have cucumber?? Cool! How do you give it to them?

Jeez! my bettas are pigs they eat 9 or 10 pellets twice daily. Maybe that's why they won't try anything else, it says on the container to feed as many as they'll eat in a few minutes. well mine won't stop gorging on the pellets. Maybe if I give them less pellets they'll be more open to trying something else. I tried baby brine shrimp with no luck. But cucumber I've never heard of feeding bettas that I wonder if mine would like that? :)

Have a go it can not hurt (cucumber warning do not leave in the tank if they do not like, it gets mucky!)

i only feed my fish once a day. two bettas get 4 pellets and the other boy gets flake(he will not eat pellets despite my best efforts to get him to do so). frozen bloodworms 2X a week, cooked pea 1X week and a fast day the day after the peas. never had a constipation problem.
best thing if you are unsure is to NOT OVERFEED!
cheers
