What Do People Think

I actually agree that one huge thread is too much, but if we did a series of in depth threads on these sorts of topics would you pop them up in the beginners resource centre. Appreciate each individual thread will need to be assessed on it's own merits etc but does the idea work in principle.

You could always put in an index in the first post, with direct links to the exact reply in which the info is....

I think that if there were only one pinned topic with the title "Beginners Resource Center" and containing links to all the current pinned topics along with others of merit that it would make it much easier for people to find them. The BRC thread that is there now is kind of lost in the mess so to speak and some of the links won't work either so it isn't helping much.

I am certainly open to what ever makes the resources and topics we have most available and accessabe to our members, new and old.

yes i agree rdd, think we need to re-organise the pins and sort out the beginners resource centre.

will have a think and post up some suggestions when i get a chance.

I've had a good look through all the topics linked to in the BRC topic and to me, all seem to be very good information fr a beginner. The only one that I would question at all is the original fishless cycling thread by Ruddmeister. Actually, Ruddmeister was the creator of that thread but he only linked to 2 threads (links gone now) about cycling and later in the thread Def cut and pasted Chris Cow's original article on fishless cycling. I think if anything, that one needs to be cleaned up (actually they all need some irrelevent posts removed for easier reading).

Of course, there are more that should be added such as the bacterial bloom one, fish-in cycling, nitrogen cycle, etc.

I don't have much information to lend to you guys, but I just wanted to encourage you to continue. I noticed Oldman was concerned about possibly scaring of the potential fish keeper, but in all honesty if they aren't willing to put the time and effort into properly maintaining a setup then I wouldn't lose sleep over scaring them away.

Besides, I love learning about all the nitty gritty stuff, but I guess that just makes me a :nerd: haha. I never really realized that a fish tank is really more of a micro ecosystem than simply water in a glass box, haha.

Keep it up! :good:
