What's new

What are you doing today?

@Lanpenn nice pics! My husband took scientific German so he could translate chemistry papers. His intro book was "Wie Gehts", I think we still have it.
"Wie Gehts?" is very scientific. I would read a book on scientific translation entitled "What's up?"

The view during my morning tea/prayer/Bible reading time today.

Finally managed to stop a payment to the tax authorities on behalf of my sister-in-law. It concerns a payment that she paid a long time ago. And the tax authorities collected too much. The overpayment needs to be reversed. The tax authorities are always quick when they need money from someone. But as soon as the reverse is true, it takes quite a long time. And they always make things difficult when it comes to a refund.

I'm not playing at April fool's today. As a 25 year old Ichthyologist adventurer with flowing locks and the body of a Greek god, I'm just going to describe a few new fish species I've found and then end some wars and economic issues in a just and fair way today. You know, ordinary Wednesday stuff.

I'm also checking the two tetras spawning tanks to see if there are fry, as today is when they will start to move if they are in there alive. I've been back from what was a 2 week famine for the fishroom long enough that things are nourished and set to breed. So now I have to take a little time and help things along.

It's almost Spring, so I'll also start some swamp milkweed seeds today. The fishroom is filling with tomato and pepper shoots, with a few flowers started as well. I have a plastic sheeted greenhouse that should be warm enough and operational in a few short weeks, so I can get a head start on my short growing season.

Fish eggs and plant seeds.

I like to have goals with the more easily available fish (if you live in a proper city, and not out here in the sticks). I get my rarities as I can, but there are fish in more common circulation that I look for as I visit fish civilization spots.

Yesterday, In Halifax Nova Scotia, I scored some Nannostomus beckfordi. They should have been an easy find, but nooo, not here. A ways back, I got Nannostomus marginatum, a long hunted for species, and before that Hoplisoma granti. So now, I reset, and will hunt for Iriatherina werneri, the threadfin rainbow. There's hope.

After that, I'll think of something else. One at a time. Maybe rathbuni tetras.

It's timing - the fish has to come in, but it has to do so when I'm going to the town where the good shop is.

I have good farmer/herder instincts, but the hunter gatherer lives on!

I’m invited to my Daughter’s for Ishtar festivities today so I’ll run early and gather up a few things to do aquarium maintenance at her house . Kills me that her aquarium’s are in such a dismal state . She should know better .

I feel like a cat sitting in a sunspot which is bad because I am at work... 🫣 and will be until close to or after 5.

I spent several hours netting juvenile a. cacatuoides born February 23 from their birth tank and placed them in a grow out tank. I netted 22 baby cockatoo. I estimate that is about half of the total number in the birth tank.

I'm thinking about how to get this fish out of my 10. I don't want it in there; it doesn't want to be in there but it just won't leave. I've been trying for 4 months to get it out. I'm thinking i'm going ot have pick the whole thing up and pour it out to remove it though i suspect it will find a new way to not leave. They only don't want to leave when i want them out.
