Pork , Rice and salad.

An attempt today, I was supposed to make it yesterday but we weren't that hungry. Buffalo cauliflower in some sort of batter in an air fryer. Was not bad but needs fine-tuning, the batter doesn't stick to the cauliflower and the cauliflower itself was not salted inside. Might need some sort of presalting.
Greek yoghurt dip not pictured.
Overall I have a hard time having just boiled potatoes as they somehow go best with meat and sort of gravy... But I love boiled potatoes!!

I have a problem. ;) I was planning on having a double smashed burger but got involved with someone's computer and forgot to place an order to my local grocery. This means that I have zero bread in any form. Ahhh, but not all is lost as I can make a boxed mac and cheese with the burgers and some broccoli mixed in. I also have a thawed boneless pork chop but I think I want to get rid of the burgers as they just don't really work as a smash burger as they are already smashed raw and that does not really work. Next burger will be one made from ground rib eye. Need a bun for that puppy though. ;) As of today I have 4 of the rib eye burgers.

I cooked a big batch of black beans today but it turned out to be less than usual. I buy a 10lb bag & cook as needed for the freezer with onion, garlic & oregano. A 6qt pot usually yields 6 2cup containers, only 5 today. I've done the opposite too & had to use another pot to cook them all after they soaked. I don't measure as you can tell, lol. We love them in many foods & not having any in the freezer for quick dinners or as an ingredient limits some of our favorite choices.

I was going to make black bean salad, but husband wants burritos tonight. He started a new med. that makes him feel yucky, so he's been getting to choose our dinner the last several days. I hope he feels better soon...& I get an equal vote again.

I'm thinking about getting a fondue pot. If I do it will probably be either Farberware or Cuisinart as I don't know what is good and I trust both brands.

While I MAY do cheese now and then it would mostly be spiced butter/oil for things like munching meatballs, cubed steak/pork and some veggies like cauliflower or broccoli. Would be sort of cool for NFL football games especially on Sundays when it is game day all day.

Anyone have any recommendations as to a pot?

Black beans are part of my favorite burritos. I use Rice-a-Roni brand Spanish rice mix with black beans, Rotel green chili diced tomatoes, onions and chicken. Cheddar cheese and sour cream when rolling and they are to die for. I DO doctor for more heat May not be scratch but I figure why fix what isn't broken. ;) Two boxes of the Rice-a-Roni and an 8-pack of large soft flour tortillas are a perfect match and I have several in my freezer. I wrap in plastic wrap to freeze so I can just toss in my microwave if I'm being lazy but prefer to thaw and sear/crisp on a skillet with bell peppers to put on top. Well, actually I thaw whether doing on a skillet or in my microwave. As to the sour cream I don't do inside for the ones I'm going to freeze. LOL! When I do the skillet and bell peppers more cheese, the peppers and sour cream go on top. They are not a hand held burrito, a fork and knife are recommended. ;)

You don't really need a fondue pot. You can just use a regular pot or double boiler set on low heat for cheese or chocolate, no double boiler & higher temp for oil or food will be soggy. Those little Sterno cans are ok for low temps but not frying.

I made black bean salad w/quartered grape tomatoes, diced red peppers, minced jalapeno peppers & onion & black beans of course. Dressing is lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, garlic & olive oil. Served with Frito scoops (not tortilla chips). It needs the salt & corn taste. The "diet" version is a bowl of salad topped with crunched up Fritos but might need some salt. We had a medley of Beach Boys music in memory of Brian Wilson who died today. Music, singing & some dancing helps when I have a ton of chopping to do.

Our quick version of bean burritos are just flour tortillas, warmed beans, sour cream, cheddar cheese & romaine. Salsa is optional for me, maybe salsa verde sometimes. I'm allergic to tomato, & while I can eat it, I save myself for spag, sauce, chili, goulash etc.

Sure, I could do a fondue on the stove but that won't work as to watching a football game on TV. With a fondue pot I can just put it on my coffee table right in front of me and go pretty much all day.

If you get the Pot look for a Raclette grill, a table is never filled enough... And I need more than one activities...

Cheese is more difficult but most end up with a burned bottom called a nun.

I make it home with smoked Gouda, Emmental, Dry white wine a good lump of Kirsh, Lemon juice and Cornstarch. Nothing more.

It's the kind that has ethanol effects:

@jaylach, you live in an apartment, how far is your stove from your tv? Time outs & commercials, get up & stir or dip? I live in a house & it's not far, lol.

Yes, fondue sets are cute! But not really all that practical in real life. Do you have thrift stores near you? Might be a place to look for my fellow fondue "used to do it" folks castoffs. I say go slow & see if you really want or need to have 1...& I have more storage space than you, lol.

Of course my kitchen is close to the game but can't really see the TV well. With a pot I can have it all on my couch table and have whatever I'm going to do on ice on the same table. I'm not all that concerned with efficiency but convenience and fun. Shoot, since it would be say a meatball now and then through the games, it would take a lot more electric usage to do on the stove than a self contained unit as it would be going all day. My electric is included in my rent but that does not mean that I should waste.

I'm not saying that I'm actually going to get a pot but they are fun. To be honest I've only had fondue 2 or 3 times but really enjoyed. If I get one it is all about having fun with it.

Ok it's true that you can eat it standing beside your stove direct in the crackler...

Everyone rotating clock wise for a bite.

But why not put the table on fire. While refueling a stove.

I mean... It's a party !!! After all.
