LFS or LPS is used as its a rule on most forums that you dont name names as it can get the site owners in to trouble if you are slagging a store off etc

I just like acronyms.

I always think in terms of the LPS and the LFS as being the sole ownership locally owned pet shop or fish shop. Not everyone uses it that way, they will use it to designate their local PetSmart, Walmart or PetCo. I am not shy about naming the store: good, bad or indifferent. But usually I don't name my locally owned one.

Lfs are local fish shops...
and Lps are local pet shops...

It's just much easier saying, LFS, than Aquarium Center or Petsmart or My local fish store.
