Hi all, just finished my weekly water change and I sucked this up out of the substrate. It can only be 1 of 3. Platy, guppy or cory. Help cos I just can't tell

It's now in my breeding net with some java moss

Definitely not a cory!
Either a platy or guppy, congratulations!

I was doing a w/c yesterday, and when I was emptying the water down the plug hole, I suddenly saw a little baby in the sink! Thankfully I was quick enough to save him, though!

I agree it is more likely to be a livebearer fry rather than a corydoras fry....

The way to be sure is wait for it to grow up. Then you'll know

well I've had two platies looking fat, one with an obvious gravid spot and one of the guppies was about to burst last night so it could be either. The guppy is still fat but not as huge as last night. My sunset platy (mum to the 14 fry and always up the duff!) looks slimmer today. Not got a good look at the other platy yet today. They all go hide during a water change.

I was hoping for cory as I sit and watch the bronze pair doing their dance (as I like to call it) all the time but I think their eggs just get eaten before babies get a chance!

Looks more like platy to me but hard to tell from that angle. Quite easy to tell from the side.

well, what ever it is I can't find it now lol! It went into the net for sure but it's hiding somewhere out of sight.

still no idea what it is but it's very odd. It hides in the substrate, refuses to come to the surface even for food and is still so unbelievably tiny that I often can't see it at all! My Dad tried to look and work out what it was yesterday and couldn't see it at all with his glasses on!!

It's very odd, that's all I know. Guess I'll have to be patient ...

My money is on platy, ime they hang around near the bottom while guppy fry head to the top.

I wondered if it's hiding cos it's on it's own and feels vunerable. It's taken me ages to find it but it is still there. I've now dabbled a finger in the top to try and get the baby food to sink. It tends to stay at the top with it being so fine but if the little thing won't come to the surface it can't eat!

I'll have to keep an eye on my female platies and hope I can get a pregnant one into the trap at the right time so this little fella can have some friends.

The alternative is to put the breeder net into the small tank and try and get it in there so it's not go so far to swim for food. Hmm, that's a thought ...

I'm not alone!

I've just been watching them tucking into a tubiflex block and spotted something ... another fry ... and then another

So the question is Should I catch the loan one in the small tank and put it back to the main tank and it's siblings or catch the fry and put them in the small tank to grow up and go to the lfs?

Unsure if they are guppies or platies. The one I've just seen had the beginnings of a black tail

netted out 4 fry all around the same size/shape/colour. My money is on platy as they are a browny-orange colour. Got them all in the small tank as I don't really want any more platies and definitely no more guppies.... more cories is another thing entirely lol
