Good advice from wharf's, gave me some filter medium to get me going and bought 5 sepia Tetra and 3 platies, did ammonia and other tests and all ok...........fish have a smile on their face...... :nod:

Now that the fish have been in the tank for a few days, it is time to retest your water. It takes time for ammonia and nitrites to get out of control and you will want to catch it early if your filter clone failed.
 
Hi Brian, welcome to the forum.

The Java fern you have needs to have it's root exposed to the water otherwise it will rot. And it also looks like that you have left the stems in their little sponge/lead weights. Remove these and spread the stems out a little.

Also keep an eye on the Serpae's, they can be nippy when kept in small numbers.

BTW, which part of Nottingham are you from?
