Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm definitely using some type of magnet scraper. The tank is tall, and on a tall stand, I have to use a step stool to get down to the bottom to plant plants. A manual scraper would be uncomfortable.

You can get the Kent Marine scrapers. The blades are interchangeable between the small handled and long handled versions:

The scraper inserts include a staineless steel blade, a plastic blade and a padded blade not show above. There are several versions of the longer handled one in different lengths including one that telescopes. I also have algae pads and a loneger handed padded one.
