Went In For Shrimp Came Home With These..

So popped in the lfs for some cherry shirmp, but was advised they will probably end up being dinner for my tetras.

They guy said that these would be good for my tank and said they will stay small. Their name started with an 'O'

These swam into the bag though (the ones that are light brown with a black stripe down the middle), they guy let us have them rather than stressing the fish trying to get them back out, dont have a clue what they are but they are very active

Possibly Cardinal Tetras and Black Neon Tetra, someone will come along with the answer.

They are Otocinclus/Otos

I bought some oto's this morning, mine are much smaller hope they do okay.

looks like the first lot are Otocinclus then just had a look at google images to compare as i know my photos are pretty poor.

Had a look at black tetras but mine dont have a bright stripe above the black part, so not sure on those?

Did you check out emporer tetra for the 2nd pic?

Just having a look at the emporer tetra, the shape of the ones seems a bit different to the ones i have, also the tail fins are a different shape so not sure on that, although the colours seem very close.

I should have paid more attention in the store

What ever you have sounds similar to mine, i have a brown tetra with a black line going through it, but the tail looks different to the ones on google pics, I dont know what i have myself as it was my dads which i re-homed after he wanted to change fish.

The tail on the ones i have are just like the ones on my neon tetras, quite small and transparent. They also have a tiny little stump kind of thing on their backs just before the tail. Hopefully someone will point us in the right direction

The stump is red yes, the black stripe goes to the end of the body but not on the tail if that makes sence?

I think we may have the same fish

I think it is Inpaichthys kerri as Carlovel1 kindly pointed out
