Weirs/overflow boxes

I believe the way to stop the sump noise is to have the water level of the sump an inch or two above the media and then have the pipe from the tank submerged by just over an inch. That should do it (and if I had learned to measure properly would have done so on mine :whistle: )

Have to add though, that the Durso is a fantastic design! :kana:

Only problem is that my water level in the sumop isn#t that hight as the partionals are quite low and the trickle tower is quite high...see picture

I thought last night that i might beable to make a oversized spray bar, have a T-pice on the inlet and then a bar on either side with a load of holes so it's not just 1 big gush!!

I'm still playing about with my gate valve a bit to get it just right.
 
Another idea I've had is that you could ask the same question in the salty section. From my understanding a far higher percentage of reef owners have sumps and a number have got the water sound deadening down to an art. I believe Navarre or Ste2e are the authorities over there. (At least they've answered most of my questions :D )
