Hi everyone.I just bought 2 harlequins from the pet store they were really lively so i didn't get a proper look at them but when i put them in my tank I realised one of them has 2 small shiny spots on one of them.I cant get a decent picture of him, even if i could get a good one, somethings wrong with my photo bucket account so i wouldnt be able to put them on here.

chris :hyper:

sorry just to add the spots are more like little flecks not like columnaris

they are a little bigger than a grain of salt sorry i cant be more specific. And i didn't think it was ick because they were bright shiny silver

i suspect scales just coming off for one reason or another. keep an eye on them...doesnt sound like ich (as that is fairly obvious).
cheers

Wait wouldn''t the skin under the fishes scales be white? or am I wrong?,either way thanks I will keep watch on the little guy :good:

A single scale at an odd angle will reflect light funny and look like a shiny spot. I think that is what Loraxchick meant.

Ah ok thanks for clarifying that. And I will try getting flickr

yup...exactly what i was trying to say. thanks for clarifying for the OP :hyper:
cheers

Oh, the pictures make it clear! You've got one of those rare "Right-Turn-Only-Rasbora" species. They've got really good coverage on the right marker lamps.

Never seen harlequins like this but a couple of my BPT's have a scale like this each. Bit dissapointing because you only notice when studying the fish at home but one of those things I guess. If anything like mine it appears to be a permenant 'odd' scale or something and seems to be a permenant feature!
