Weird Bubble Film On Top Of The Tank!

I was just replanting some (hairgrass i think) that my coires had kindly uprooted during the night for me, and I noticed the water had a film on it.
It wasn't coloured but it reflected the light like a bubble mixture does.

The fish all seem happy enough and I think it might just be down to not enough surface agitation, but has anyone got any idea what it might be? I ccan't take a picture as you can't see it on my phone!

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

oil from your hands most likely, not sure why its bubbled up though

It was there before I put my hands in though

It isn't actually bubbling, it just looks like the bubble mix when you have it in the bubble blower, no I'd be pretty worried if there were actual bubbles in the tank that didn't come from the gourami's!

if you feed the fish flake food that can seep oil onto he surface. Most fish tanks can and will have an oil like film on the top. You could try laying a piece of kitchen roll on the top and see if it soaks it up if it bothers you. Dont know if that idea will work well but feh, its certainly nothing to sorry about.

+1, it can also be dust sometimes.

No they get fed Hikari wafers at night, and there's a lid that's pretty much always closed.

I'm not particularly bothered by it, more curious, because it's not causing any harm, all the fish are acting normal and there's no change in water quality.

To be honest it probably is from my hands, didn't think they were particularly oily though, and I've never seen it before!

Wafers will do it too.. any prepared, dry food will, to be honest. Also most lids are not that good at preventing dust from getting in.

Ah right, it was just cause Tizer said specifically flake food, and mine's pretty tight fitting!

AsI said, it's not a cause for concern, more curiosity with a bit of caution!
