It is not a hostile move; it is a rule that is enforced fairly towards all members. It is also a rule members agree to when they register here. Nobody is being kept here, everyone is free to come and go as they please. There are plenty of other tropical fish websites, and any members here are free to register at any of those websites.

The promotion of other general tropical fish forums is against the rules, and this has been a long-standing rule. Any member that has any questions or problems with the rules are more than welcome to take it up with another moderator, or William, the site administrator.

The statement that nobody pays to be here is incorrect, we have sponsors who pay to be here, as well as some members who donate towards the operation & upkeep of this site. I have no idea how much money William has put into this site over the years, I imagine that it's quite a tidy sum. Many, if not most of these folks consider this an investment of sorts, either towards the successful operation of a growing business, or towards the future of the aquatics hobby. I'm sure one of the reasons they chose this site because of the rules that are followed.

The majority of members do not pay to use this site, I think for using a free service abiding by the rules is a small thing to ask.
