Web Designers! How Much Would You Charge

ok so this fella i know had a company make a website for his bathroom show room (oldest one in sheffield ill have you know ) but they did not put any products or prices on

so he has asked me to do it, i know i can do it as i have had a play with it already and you input the details into a form that puts it on all fancy lol but not sure how much to charge!

it needs a minimum of 80 images to go live, so this means the minimum work i am doing is adding 80 products with pictures, descriptions and prices, now i have already linked all the manufacturers to there own page which will have the products on etc so thats a bit of work already done just waiting for him to give me the products he wants on.

sooo from the sounds of it what should i charge about?

If you were doing this professionally, 30-50 pounds per hour of work, but as you aren't (I assume getting paid cash?) 6-15 pounds per hour would seem appropriate, depending on how desperate this guy is.

Yeah.. and more too! But in real life, to get that much, you have to be able to talk the talk and probably no one cares if you can walk the walk

Personally I'd avoid Techfrog, as although he seems like a computer nerd and he is knowledgeable on the subject, he is also rather arrogant and full of himself, and not exactly keen to advise or give positive feedback.

£1 an image/product is probably what you'd get for a job like that.

I'm rude because I didn't praise your website? Anybody can spend five minutes in Frontpage and reproduce the website you created. I also supplied to you with plenty of useful advice, which you tried to fob off with the groundless excuse of "I'm only 15". I've seen some impressive stuff from people as young as 12, age isn't an excuse for poor handiwork.

We're still waiting to see the site you made when you were 13, age is an excuse because with age comes lack of funds meaning he can't buy the software to create a website for a hobby so he does what he can with what he has.

The problem was in another thread Tech-Frog took a bit of a upfront approach to a 15 year old claiming he had only just started it as a hobby, he them claimed he could do much better when he was 13 and that age isn't an issue. We asked to see his website which was so good when he was 13 but he didn't deliver.

This is the thing about the internet its full of lots of kinds of different people who may have different views.

I agree age sometimes is irrelavant I know from my work as people expect me to be Percy thrower although you may be to young to know who he is

wether tech helped the op or not is not the point I am sure "full of himself" or not he would of gave an answer (an estimate) of a rough price as aked for.

I dont know why you both have a problem and take it personally maybe its the way some people and little clicks talk to others hey

Once again, it was on a different thread. I don't have a problem with him I would just like him to show us the website that he claimed to be so much better, backing up statements after slating someone with evidence would be great. Though lets not get distracted from the initial question of how much to charge, I agree with Tech-Frog on his initially quote.

Look if I was tech I'd tell you to do one as well if you moaned about seeing old sites he made years ago.

All you need to know is that he knows more than you do when it comes to computers fullstop from what I have gleaned AND from what he has showed me .

Again Ive talked to tech he is to the point and I praise that he doesnt beat about the bush or do posts saying awwww nice tank or wow cool fish just to bump up his post count to make him "appear" more knoweledgeable most of us dont care enough to do that if you ask a question you get an answer if you cant cope with public feed back dont post.

also calling people arrogant and up themselves etc is worthy of a report if you ask me but as I know tech couldnt give a #41#### what some of the know it all kids and stuff type why should he I wouldnt..........

so to conclude dont get personal we can all do that cant we but even these arrogant people dont result to personall attacks it makes me wonder how old you all are ? Techs youngish but a hell of alot more mature than "bo hoo show us your site I dont beleive you did it at 13. Not his problem and why should he care about proving things to peeps who well........ slag him off

dont get me wrong me and tech continually take the mickey out each other in chat but hey when you grow up at least youll understand to ignore it if it gets a bit personall tell him he has morals and respect and will go easy on you when you winge and go on and on and on or think you know better than him if he does think your talking rubbish he will leave you under no illusion at all

again its the internet get a grip you post for opinions and when some of you get them you dont want to hear it as you know better or know someone who doesnt do whatever it is we recommend and everythings fine so why should we bother
