Water Test Results

Have a good day. Concentrate on school, stop worrying about the fish :)

Can't do water change as buckets being used but i just spotted something on the female guppy her tail has a chunk out of it the outline is red (maybe her colour of fin) also she is still gasping at the top not looking to healthy is she gonna die soon? looks like it

You dont need a bucket to do water tests? Just place the test tubes (fully cleaned in water with no soap) into the tank and take the required amount out.

What is the bucket used for apart from tank cleaning purposes?

It doesnt sound good Jess. The water change might help. I expect the ammonia has risen again or maybe you are now getting nitrItes.

Why does it affect the girl guppies and no-one else?

Also dechlorinator when i do a 30% water chage i put 1 capful in the tank then add the water is this right?

Okay i tested my tap water for ammonia and it seems that is 0.25 either that or i tested it wrong. I've just done the water change and she looks even worse. In half an hour i will test the water for ammonia and nirtrles or something. Then i'll post them on here

Its not unusual to have traces of ammonia in tap water, some other people have posted on here with the same problem. However, in a fully cycled tank, the amount going back into the tank would be converted quickly by the established bacteria, however the it helps if the filter is mature, which unfortunately yours isnt.

Test it again, you may have tested wrongly.
