right, when i do water changes im forever having to faff about with buckets and containers as my tanks are no where near sinks / outside

so i had an idea of getting a water pump, bit like fire engines use (just nowhere near as powerful)

to suck the water out of the tank, and put it out the other end of the hose which would be out of the conservatory door / bedroom window into the conservatory roof drain pipe

would also help filling them back up aswell

this would save me a hell of a lot of time, and wet floors!!

anyone know anything about them?

cheers

think thats what im after. so id jus place that in the tank, hose to outside, switch it on, bobs your uncle an fannys your aunt, quick water changes?

Absolutely. Its the same to pump the water from the container back to the tank, just with the pump in the container and the hose in the tank :good: . But every now and again you still have to siphon the muck from the bottom of the tank, as the pump cant do that

yeah id still use the gravel hoover thing iv got for that, but this would save me shed loads of time an mess!

so that would work yeah?

THe 800l/h version might not be strong enough to push the water from the container to the tank, especially if the tubing is quite long. The 1200l/h version would be quicker and stronger, and it's only £2 more than the 800l/h one

thanks for pointing that out,

there both gonna be travelling 10 foot or thereabouts and the height will obviously drop 2 or 3 foot from the sink to the floor then raise again to the tank and vice versa

you, and your fish, would be far better off if you removed the water by syphon. indeed there is little on no point in not doing so.

the pump would be fine for returning freshwater. but the 1400w item posted would, only, just be up to it, 2m max rise. an 800w wouldn't move a thing. unless you put it on some form on stand.

the pumps an internal tho so it wouldnt be able to go on a stand

originally i was thinking tank > tube > pump > tube > sink and the other way for filling which i think is what you mean by having it on a stand but this 1 is just tank > pump > tube > sink

why can you not put the container of water, on a stand, with the pump in that?
anyway the answer is no. the 1400w pump can only mange a rise of six foot. trailing a long pipe too. will make it useless. I mean utterly useless
again there is no need for a pump to remove water. syphon works just a s fast. allows you to do the gravel at the same time. and wont scare your fish half to death with it noise, either
what you are looking for is a Python. or its like.
l;ook here
doing what you need makes, ordinary, (none commercial) pumps worthless<br>

I have to disagree with what you said there. The pumps are made to be used in an aquarium so won't scare the fish half to death with noise.
Aswell as this, i have used the all pond solutions 1200l/h pump to do virtually the same as what Peter is wanting to do and it worked fine.

yeah, it works so well nobody makes on for the job! thats why people use Python

so you had a 1200lph pump that could pump water, up hill at a distance of over 10 feet, when it has a 6 foot lift?

fair enough. lol.

You are getting mistaken, the tube goes down from the tank and then flat along the floor and then up into the sink. It's not uphill or downhill all the way, it's flat for the majority of the journey, it's not a 10foot raise it's about 5 feet. Peter, it'll work, Raptorrex is just getting confused :good:

Just a quick question....why wont a Python system work for your situation?
