So just wondering how often is everyone checking there water quality? Weekly after every water change is what I do. But is this often enough?

I check mine around once every 2-3 weeks or so. Every time I check it it's always exactly the same lol ammonia 0 nitrites 0 nitrates 20. It's been this way for months (since finishing the cycle)

Only time I check more often is if I'm cycling, if I have ill fish, when a fish or plant dies, if i add fish or if I somehow overfeed. Still, even then iv had no changes in parameters :)

Cool cheers il start doing it a bit less then seemed like every week was overkill :) I have another question I bought some aqua safe online and today It came in the post but it is the wrong thing it is Pond aqua safe instead of the stuff I ordered aquarium aqua safe. Is the pond stuff still safe to use in aquariums? Thanks

It should be fine. Lots of people use pond dechlorinators as they are more concentrated, therefore better value for money. The only problem you may have is that it can be tricky measuring small amounts. In this case, buy a syringe as they make it much easier to measure out small amounts. Look at ebay or in a chemist shop (but here ask for a medicine dosing syringe or they'll assume you want it for something illegal!)

Thanks for the heads up essjay I have plenty of pippets (I think thats what there called) so I will use one of them. The pond stuff is much better value for money, it's 10ml for 200ltrs. Im currently using a 10ltr bucket to refil my tank when doing a water change. Anyone know how much i'd need to use for a 10ml bucket? Im terrible at math :hyper:

As essjay said, it will be fine. I use seachem prime which IS meant for aquariums but is MORE concentrated that the pond one you purchased. With seachem prime 5ml treats 200litres so you can treat approx 20,000 litres with a 500ml bottle. I have a 125gal tank so a 500ml bottle doing weekly water changes lasts me between 20-24 months. Not bad for £14 :)

It's really easy, bud; 10 divided by 200 gives you the ml per litre, then multiplied by 10 gives you the amount for 10 litres :good:

What channa's have you got? I love them. I used to have 2 rainbows in a juwel vision 180. I do miss them. Iv had 9 tanks I think it is, that's within a little over 2 years since I start the hobby. 10th on the way very soon :) I will have 3 tanks running at the same time. Most iv had at one time is 4. The other half made me get rid of them all ready for the 8 footer. All I have now is an empty 40gal and a 125 with my flowerhorn. Will be possible getting a dovii for the 210gal

I have aurantimaculata, sp.whitefin and pulchra. Used to have more but the misses made me move the tanks to the garage so didn't have room for the 6 that I had. I'd love a big 8 footer just haven't got the room in the house im in. 6ft is have max atm :( What sort of flowerhorn do you have I used to own a lovely zz red dragon.

Nice :) I'm may be getting a juwel vision 180 with stand and all equipment in the next couple of days. It's coming from a friend and he only wants £30 :)

Few little problems like it needs a good clean and one of the bulbs not working but still, not a bad price.

I got a Blue Thai Silk Flowerhorn

Jut read your other thread your little flowerhorn is a stunner :good:

Will look so nice when is fully grown are you going to put it in the 8 footer? If so what are you thinking for tank mates? And are you going to sump for filtration?
