I put my older filter cartridge in, but I still have ammonia in the water. Today, I will do a thorough gravel vac so maybe a 50% water change. What else can I do. My current stock is in my signature, I may be overstocked. What else can I do?

Doesn't sound over-stocked to me. Although depending on the dimensions the Angel may not be happy in it once it's fully grown.

What is your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate reading?

If you have ammonia in the water then yes you are still cycling. The only thing you can do is aim to keep ammonia and nitrites below 0.25ppm until the cycling process finishes.

I only checked the ammonia but I will test the others right before I do the w/c. I use the API liquid test kit. It was a shade of green, not dark though.

About the Angel, It looks bigger, I think it's a good size for an angel. Maybe 18-20 inches height.

I need to update my sig. I lost a platty, it got stuck in the filter intake.
