I use API stress coat which works out to neutralise the greatest volume per squirt of any of the conditioners ive yet to find and is therfore the most cost effective. It neutralises heavy metals in the water as well as chlorine and chloramine which is important with urban water supplies

Those of you who use tapwater and no conditioner are exposing your fish to levels of poisonous metals such as copper and lead which can build up in the internal organs of fish over time leading to unexplained diseases and premature deaths. This is especially important for people who keep scaleless fish (loaches, catfish, eels), pirahnas and directly related species such as silver dollars and sensative species such as Mormyrids (elephant nose fish), rays, discus and puffers.
