Rob I am not doing the same as others here. I use my nitrate readings to help me determine amounts and frequency of water changes. My target is to keep nitrates at less than 20 ppm above tap water values at all times. Each tank is its own thing depending on stocking levels. Some get frequent large water changes, the relatively overstocked ones, while others get less frequent smaller water changes, the lightly stocked ones. There is really no "rule" that will always work. It all depends on what you have in livestock vs. the tank size.
