Water Changes

At the moment, I change my betta tank every Tuesday (or Monday if I won't be home Tuesday)... is once a week enough? He doesn't seem to be freaking out on me or anything... but I want to make sure his ammonia levels are getting too high in the week. (stupid me just now thought of testing them to actually find out) Anywho- what do y'all do? He's in a one gallon tank- alone. Is once a week ok??

I used to do once a week when I had my betta in a one gal, but always felt bad about it. Have you tested your ammonia levels to see exactly how high they are getting?

in 8 days time, it tests to the color between 0 and .25ppm - i'm wondering if the water isn't cold though, he's hanging out up by the light. i JUST changed his water- think i should test it?
