I need to come up with a weekly routine for my 55gallon, how often should I do them?

Id maybe do 40% weekly, but it depends on your stocking and feeding etc..

I usually do full water changes each month or so..

I usually do 10 gallon water changes a bit more than once a week on my 55. Watch your nitrate, and see where it stabilizes. If it seems to go up from week to week or stabilizes higher than you'd like, increase the size or frequency of changes.

Edit long after the fact rather than bumping: I'd avoid full water changes, simply for the fact that you'd need to relocate the tank's stock for the process, which is a lot of work and somewhat stressful for the fish. 25% a week or 50% every other week would both be vastly less work than 100% every four weeks.

i do about 15 - 20% every week in my 100g
