Do you have real plants? If so they need light if not, then so you can see your fish!!
PS where in soton you? What LFS do you use? Who wont you use??
No i dont have real plants, thinking of getting some strong longer living ones soon as hopefully they wont die after a week like the last ones! If i havent got plants then in theory i could leave my lights off until i come home and want to see my fish?!?!?!
Im from West End/Bitterne in Southampton, Ive got all my fish stuff from Arturi's down Allington lane, Im really impressed by them, they have really exotic fish and good prices and the staff are really friendly and helpful.
The only other place Ive looked at is Pets at home in Segensworth... Not impressed at all, pretty boring fish and the shop is practically empty!! If you know any other good/bad places I'd be pleased to hear about them ;-)
"Nemo" Fish is a marine salt water fish!!!!!!!! Anglefish need a deep large tank. They will also eat neons if you have them.
Usually heavy buildup is more related to feeding than to fish waste. Multiple small feedings are best, food should not reach the bottom of the tank before being consumed. I didn't notice do you have any bottom grubbers (cories, loaches, other cats?). On the syphon the further from the tank, vertically the faster the water flow placing the bucket on a box or chair to raise it will slow the flow. I light my tank for over 12 hours continuous every day and it is in a brightly natural lighted room without an algae problem, the algae flourishes in a nutrient rich environment such as results from improper feeding. I'd examine your feeding habits closely before you change a lot. Scott
Help!
For the second week running, when I do a waterchange the pipe I use for sucking up the poo takes out too much water before Ive had a chance to suck all the dirt up! How are you supposed to be able to clean the bottom of the tank before so much water is out?!??!? Im worried Im gonna keep ending up with dirty tank each week....
I carried out a nitrate/nitrite test a couple of hours after cleaning today and both levels are worryingly high... Ammonia and PH is fine. How do i get the levels of nitrate/nitrite down, I was told they would be high in the first couple of weeks but its not going down following water changes....
ok you two, I want to join in this coffee morningI am in FAIR OAK!
I too use Arturis, got my last tank there. The discount club is a good idea but the prices are a bit high in the first place though. The Boyat Wood shop is good for advice but have seen a few sick fish in there. A tip for you, have you tried The Range in Winchester Rd. Soton??? They have an excellent fish dept and very good prices. IE. Interpet Aquarium Treatments £2.99. !!!! It really is worth a look I can tell you
