Water Change During Fishless Cycle

There are several things that can cause it but that is a big drop. When a tank is cycling, the pH can jump around.

*nods* I've been told that, just didn't think it would jump around quite this much lol.

Well last night I put in some ammonia. Think I might've put in a bit too much though b/c I tested the water after an hour to let the ammonia mix in well and got a very high reading :p Woops. It was the same amount that I usually put in though so not sure why it came back with such a high reading *shrugs* I must've counted wrong.
It's ok though, tested just a little while ago and it's gone down and there are nitrite readings as well.
So after 12hrs still getting an ammonia and nitrite reading. Could've been due to me putting in too much ammonia though. I'll be more careful this time and then see if readings are normal 12hrs from now.

If readings still come back like this well, guess no fish this weekend. It sucks but well, we've waited this long, another week isn't gonna kill us hehe

Just an update.

Definitely not going to be getting any fish this weekend.
Did the usual tests after 12hrs and there was still a very small ammonia reading 0.25 and a slightly high nitrite reading.
So yeah... this whole fiasco set us back a little bit.
It's ok though... another week to mess with the pH

Well we've been fishless cycling for a few weeks now.

Another update

Bacteria caught up very fast. Did the usual test after 12hrs just now, ammonia was 0 and nitrite was almost 0 as well... YAY! Still don't think we'll be getting fish this weekend. It's ultimately up to fiance though since this is his tank.
