Wanting To Try Out Something.... Different?

Well, yeah. Anyways. I was looking into my aquarium magazine today and saw 'least pencilfish' as some of the featured fish. I read that these are freshwater fish, too. Well, anyways, since they seem cute and small (from what I'VE heard, they grow up to be an inch long....?), I'm thinking of setting up a 20-gallon tank sometime this year with maybe 6 or 8 or even 10 of these pencilfish thingies (do you know if they're easy or hard to find in stores? ) and *maybe* some other fish I've never had before. Rainbowfish are nice, but from what I've heard, plenty of them get PRETTY big.

By looking in my signature you can (sort of) get an idea of what I have.

So, if a 20-gallon tank had 8 least pencilfishes in it, what other fish could I have....? Any ideas?

gorgeous little fish. we had 2, then got 4 more, then a female died, and now i have successfully managed to breed the lil buggers!!

was just talking about them this afternoon, saying they probably aren't going to breed, and lo and behold, went to feed them tonight and found a baby i was so excited, but couldn't see anymore, will have a proper look tomorrow. it is a tiny baby, and almost blends into the background, so i could have been staring at a few more... they've been in there own tank for the last 2 weeks, with me shouting at them every day to get breeding... it finally worked, lol!!

i would definitely recommend these fish as they are so colourful, we want a whole tank full, think it would look amazing. even if i hadn't managed to breed them, i would still have recommended!!! and would have sought more out at my LFS. they were hard to find, had to travel 25 miles just to get 2 of them.

you asked for something different, they are, i guess, as they were only discovered in 2006.
