Wharf Aquatics mate, They're only juv's but iirc they were 3 for £9 the last time i went. Don't think they were EB though.

Thanks for that James keep me posted I'll have a good old look at yours when I pick the Oscar up next Sunday I that's ok

Plus I heard that the fry of 2 blues always die it needs to be the normal phase with the blue gene apparently

But hey ho ya never know you could get lucky and me for that matter :D

Wharf aquatics..? Is that near pinxton..?

Yes mate thats the one. Very good shop and stock. You won't be dissapointed with James's EBJD's they're truly amazing!!!

I've been there before it's a bit of a way for me but it's worth the drive if they've got them in...

I've seen his photos there stunning, definitely turned my toward the blues

I have a 8" male Electric Blue, and a 6" female Regular Jack. You are correct on the breeding of the two. Two Electric Blue Jacks don't create EB fry, only normal or mottled. Breeding a regular with a EB Jack will give you in basic terms 25% EB, 25% regular, 50% somewhere in between. Roughly speaking.

Electric Blue Jacks can be quite expensive, especially for such a temperamental fish. With mortality rates amongst Electric Blue fry quite higher, certainly higher than other fish. They are just so prone to dieing when young. I myself lost a female EB Jack early on, then i have my male who has survived to be a beauty. Be carefull when buying Electric Blue Jacks, for some reason you get some really ugly ones, ones that arent always true Electric Blue like mine. Look at Snowflakes EB Jack here on TFF and you'll see what i mean. Mattlee also has an EB Jack currently which is only young and growing up, will be interesting to see how his matures.

Back to my pair for a moment. Fingers crossed i will get lucky, they have breed 5 times in the last 12 months, albeit since i put them in their new tank in (September?) i havnt had a spawn.

Good luck with finding some in the mean time though :)

They definately have them in mate. Well, 2 weeks a go anyway.

Aaah thats sort of what I had heard...

Wow she's stunning herself, I would be happy with 2 of her colouring...

I will keep my eyes open in the meantime and give wharf a ring to see what they have in stock..

Then maybe take a journey over there next saturday all being well

Best not if they do have Electric Blue Jack Dempseys there. We need more EBJD owners on here :) They are the best fish to own! In my biased opinion...ofcourse.

Rot-keil Severum I've heard it pronounced (rot-cale and rot-keel).

I got pair of EBJDs. Gutted as i got them in as a 'special order' for someone *knowing* how much they were going to be and they have dissapeared off the face of the earth. Last time i do anyone a favour like that!!

Are up at £73 each but tbh will probably sell the pair for £100, they are a male and female and growing so fast, male has grown a cm in 2 weeks, last time i had them they were really slow growing! Maybe these are a little more pure... I expect EBJDs are just hybrids but until its proven either way... who knows...

I last saw them in shops 2 years ago and i was selling them at £40 each but they have gone up in price since then not to mention the VAT on fish, charges, packing, freight etc...

Unbelievably gorgeous fish.10 million times nicer than normal JDs, personalites are just so much nicer!!!
