ive been a busy boy on ebay and found lots of goodies for my tank...

a rather nice filter,

50 x plants ( single stems x 50 = 10 bunches )

extra filter pads for current filters and new one coming.

2 x spray bars,

plant weights in the form of 10 x 1 1/2 ounce powder coated lead fishing weights.

digital thermometer

and a few other odds and sods.

does anyone know how accurate the digital therms are? the one in getting has a short,black probe that stays in the water, with a sucker to affix to the glass.

If it is the same as my digital thermometer then they are pretty accurate. Most digital ones will say accurate to within +/- 1 degree F, and I do believe that to be true. I have 5 of them, one in the 5 gallon, 1 in the 12 gallon, 2 in the 55 gallon, and one I keep for matching water temps for changes. All of them are with in +/- 0.5 F of my traditional glass thermometer. So pretty accurate, the only thing is if you don't have a warning beep for when the battery is low, you have to be sure to check it. I had the battery die on one of the ones in the 55 gallon, no warning beep, I checked it and saw that one side of the tank was 77.9 F and the other side said 55 F Of course I checked the side that said 55 F first and went into a panic. Realized it was the battery and it came back to 77.5 F, so just make sure you keep and eye on that. Even if it is new, mine were all brand new but the battery in the one only lasted around 3 months then died, the rest are fine. They are also nice because you can set them to F or C, I like that because although I am living in the US I grew up in Canada, so I am much more familiar with Celsius, but when I need to ask questions I have the option to switch to F easily for my American friends.

im glad to hear they are pretty accurate i have a stick on tank one at the moment and its ok i guess ( cystal led thingy )but ideally i want it in the middle of the tank, and if it was it wouldnt look very good through the viewing side.lol

That is essentially the same one I have. Mine is a Coralife brand, but the look of it is exactly the same. If you have a regular (glass floating type one) you can compare your digital one to that just to see if it is out or not, and if so by how much.

my current one is a liquid crystal display, stick on the front of the tank type one. im not fully happy that its giving an '' accurate '' reading. and yes, i will definatly be comparing temps, out of interest really.lol

I had the glass type and the stick on type (I still have the stick on type on the tanks - couldn't be bothered to remove them). My digital ones were all +/- 0.5 degrees (or less) from the glass ones and with in +/- 1 degree from the stick on type. Now that could be because it is much harder to read 1/2 degree on the glass type then it is on the digital ones .. so in all honesty they are probably reading the same as the glass type. As for the stick on type, they are actually reading the glass/acrylic wall temp, so for the digital one to be 1 degree greater than the stick on type would make sense, as the stick on type is actually reading the temp on the outside wall of the glass, and I am sure you will loose some heat through the glass wall. (Does that make sense?)

yup makes perfect sense, so with that theory, would my water be warmer or colder than the glass?

I would think warmer by at most a degree. I am thinking that the outside glass would be cooler. When I had the glass thermometer in the tank and the stick on outside the tank the temp difference was usually by about a degree warmer on the glass thermometer. Oddly enough though the acrylic tanks stick on temp were always closer to the glass thermometer temp then the glass tanks were, I am assuming because the acrylic tank walls are a little thinner than glass walls, not sure though.

well ive received 4 out 0f 6 parcels, and to be honest im not a happy bunny!

the filter looks like a bloody cheap copy, the plants are half dead and the spray bar is negotiable.the only thing that is spot on at the moment is the filter media. Ebay? more like SCAMBAY! grrrr!

feedback was kinda mixed, some bad, some good, mostly excellent.....so i chose to but with them. further inspection shows duplicate plants which was part of there selling pitch, they pride themselves on quality blah blah blah and we DO not duplicate plants. packaging was a*** though.

yes paid via paypal, i have sent a message to the seller, just waiting for a reply.
