For ages, since the 1920s, we thought the white cloud, Tanichthys albonubes, was the lone member of its group. The in 2001, T. micagemmae and T. thacbaensis were described. 2019 brought us T. kuehnei, and this year, 2022, featured the description of 2 more group members, T. albiventris and T. flavianalis. The cardinal minnow (such terrible marketing names) is Tanichthys micagemmae.
