Vet Nurse Told Me This Today

you sure are going for the record, bet i beat you though :hey:

This is an easy way ive heard of to put your fish to sleep. Put your fish in a small container with water and put it in the freezer. This is a good way because no matter how a fish dies it will encounter severe bladder and intestinal pain and suffer for hours, maybe even days before it finally sucumbs. Using the freezing method wont give them that pain.

I think and many others think aswell that freezing is completely unaceptable, it puts the fish through a long stressfull, painful ordeal and if your trying to do this humanly please don not freeze your fish.

Here are some good/bad ways to do it.

Please read through this topic it has some really good points and info and also there are more links in it to lead you to more discussion, lol i think that this has been a long going topic, as it should be.

Freezing isnt long an painful at all. It simply triggers a hormone in the fish thats sends it in to hibernation.

Sorry - It may sound barbaric, but for a small fish like a neon, guppy or zebra size, that's obviously sick & suffering & meds didn't work, it's into a piece of paper towel and a very quick crush. I don't like doing it at all, but it's instant and it's the least painful method there is.
